Everyday High-End Retail
General Store, located in the upscale residential area of Deansgate Square, is a convenience store that caters to the daily needs of its community.
This is our second project in collaboration with the General Store team, and we aimed to take the concept and location to new heights by delivering a retail design that feels more like shopping in a luxury designer store rather than a traditional Cornershop. We wanted to recreate the experience of purchasing designer shoes, only this time, it's for your weekly shopping needs.
Welcome to General Store Deansgate, the pulse of this vibrant neighbourhood in Manchester's Deansgate Square. Nestled amidst the sleek high rises and polished atriums, General Store emerges as a groundbreaking addition to the block. It goes beyond the conventional corner shop, redefining the essence of a retail space by seamlessly blending a store, bar, coffee haven, and social hub.
Our space isn't just another stop for your essentials; it embodies cutting-edge retail design. Drawing inspiration from the sophistication of high-end fashion outlets, our interiors exude an avant-garde charm. Textured tiling, striking monolithic structures shrouded in stainless steel, and the seamless allure of polished concrete converge to create an ambience that captivates with its sheer visual impact.
A mesmerising ticker-tape display guides your journey within the store, a continuous movement paying homage to the traditional flashing light signage typically adorning local corner shops. This meticulous detail is a constant companion, subtly directing and enhancing your exploration of our space.
The deliberate austerity of the design serves as a dynamic canvas, allowing the products, brands, and textures to take centre stage. Every visit is an immersive experience, where vibrant tones and textures resonate against the backdrop, transforming the space into a lively, pulsating environment.
