The wall curves around, from one side to another, right across the glazed elevation, revealing itself as you walk by the shopfront. The stainless steel shelving displays the bottles akin to works of art and a celebration of engineering craftsmanship. Due to the ambitious curvature of the store design, we relied upon technology over traditional methods, much like the natural wine process. We CNC cut templates of the wall form around which our formwork would be based upon.

The centrepiece of the minimal store design is the social counter. It’s not a bar nor a sales counter; it’s the centre of the universe around which guests gravitate as they explore the world of natural wines.

Our design approach started with this rebellious, ‘nothing like a winery’ concept. Early on, we set out some ground rules: no cognac leathers, gnarly timbers, and ambient filament lighting. This space needed to be rebellious and a complete juxtaposition of the image that comes to mind when you think “wine shop”. We figured that we wanted the bottles’ artwork and hues to be the store’s focal point, always displayed beautifully and visible to any passers-by.
